The William Paterson University Ice Hockey team closed out an abbreviated 2020-21 campaign with a 4-0 record.  The team faced off against Montclair State for four exhibition games during the spring semester.

Final scores of the 4 game set were:

WPU 6  Montclair St, 2

WPU 5  Montclair St. 4

WPU 7 Montclair St. 3

WPU 5 Montclair St. 3

The four game set gave the returning and new players an opportunity to compete and build team chemistry.  Up front, Adam Marvin, Tommy Bauer, Alex Cavaluzzo and Nick Bucci paced the offense.  On defense, Walt Keiper concluded his Pioneer career with 5 points.  Keiper led the Pioneers as captain for 3 seasons and was instrumental in the team's ascension to ACHA Men's Division 1.  Freshman goaltender, Nick Johansson was called upon to start all four games in the series.  Johansson finished up with a 2.96 GAA in the four games.  Veteran backup Dean Bua stepped into game action as well.

With the abbreviated season complete, the Pioneers coaching staff has set their sights on the 2021-22 season.  The team will play a full 29 game schedule with matchups against ECHA league rivals and familiar ACHA D1 opponents, including NYU, Drexel and Rutgers.  Stay tuned this summer for updates and announcements!
