CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Chillicothe Paints, presented by Adena Health System, added to their roster with the signing of pitcher Dane Armbrustmacher for the 2021 season, which begins Thursday, May 27.

A 6-foot-3, 205-pound left-hander, Armbrustmacher is in his sophomore season with the Western Michigan University Broncos from the NCAA Division I Mid-American Conference. (Armbrustmacher is a junior academically)

As a freshman in 2018, Armbrustmacher made 24 relief appearances for the Broncos, striking out 33 batters over 33 1/3 innings and allowing opponents to hit just .259 against him. He continues to average more than a strikeout per inning pitched in 2019, having fanned 12 opposing hitters over 11 2/3 innings. Last season, his 24 appearances ranked 10th-most in a single season in school history.

Last season, Armbrustmacher appeared in five games, striking out 12 batters over 11 2/3 innings before the COVID-19 pandemic canceled the rest of the season.

A native of Fowler, Mich., Armbrustmacher was a four-year varsity starter and letterwinner at Fowler High School, where he was twice named All-State. He was also named First-Team All Central Michigan Conference and Lansing State Journal All-District three times. 

Armbrustmacher joins Jimmy Allen as the second player from Western Michigan on the Paints' 2021 roster.

Chillicothe hosts the Lafayette Aviators at VA Memorial Stadium Thursday, May 27, at 7:05 p.m. to open the 2021 season, the 28th for the Paints. In addition to $1 draft beer for Thirsty Thursday, there will be a postgame fireworks show presented by 94 Country to celebrate the beginning of the new season.
