MARKHAM WINGER IS 4TH OJHLER ON NHL DRAFT WATCH LIST

Make that four players from the Ontario Junior Hockey League on the National Hockey League Central Scouting ‘Players to Watch List’ released last week.

The fourth player is Markham Royals left winger Johnny Ulicny (photo by Spencer Smye / OJHL Images), who is currently on loan to the New England-based Islanders Hockey Club of the United States Premier Hockey League, with the OJHL not currently playing due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Ulicny was given a ‘C’ ranking by Central Scouting as a potential 4th/5th/6th round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft.
In 55 outings with Markham last season, the 18-year-old Tecumseh, Ont., product had 27 points, including 12 goals. Two of his markers were game-winners.

The updated Players to Watch List is based on “in-person viewings, video scouting and a comprehensive video scouting review of 2021 NHL Draft Prospects from games that were played late in the 2019-20 season and other unique situations related to the COVID-19 virus,” said the Canadian Junior Hockey League in a media release.
