The Coburg Cougars are pleased to announce that the program has acquired Aaron Chiarot (D, 2002) from East Division Rival, the Whitby Fury. Chiarot began the 2019-2020 season with the Brantford 99ers, posting 3 points (1G, 2A) in 13 games before being acquired by the Fury and recording another 3 points (1G, 2A) in 30 games and a further assist in 4 playoff games.

Chiarot, a Hamilton, ON native, was drafted 163rd overall by the Peterborough Petes in the 2018 OHL Draft, after a strong minor-midget season with the Mississauga Reps. Aaron signed the following season with the Welland Jr. Canadians of the GOJHL. With the Canadians, Aaron posted 11 points (1G, 10A) in 36 games and was selected to Team Moreau for the GOJHL Top Future Prospect Game.

'Aaron is a mobile and physical defender, who can separate players from the puck and create transition opportunities for his teammates," said Head Coach David DeMarinis. "Aaron has taken significant strides in his development over each of the past two years and we think he's capable of even more as he continues to develop. Aaron's skillset really complements our group of young defensemen, and with veterans Justin Zuber (D, '00) and Derek Raposo (D, '00) we believe we've got a formidable back-end as we prepare for the upcoming season."

The Cougars look forward to introducing our fans to Aaron and the rest of the Cougars this season. Continue to follow the Cougars here, by subscribing to our newsfeed, and following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
