Hitter of the Day

On June 9, 2018, Covington's JD Mundy ripped a two-run walk-off home run against Staunton, capping off a day in which he went 4-5, with three runs, a double, home run, and two RBIs. Mundy was the 2nd best hitter that summer (behind New Market's Andrew Eyster), hitting .353/.474/.705 in 139 at-bats, with 36 runs scored, seven doubles, 14 home runs, 48 RBIs, and a 29/37 BB/K ratio. Mundy was in the middle of transferring from Virginia Tech to Radford; in 2020, he played in 17 games before COVID ended things. He hit .385 with four home runs and 17 RBIs.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 9, 2015, Staunton's Garrett Ring shut down New Market over six innings, allowing four hits, one unearned run, no walks, and struck out 12. From Middle Tennessee State, Ring only started four games that summer, but all of them were good. He went 1-0, 1.30, with 31 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings pitched. In his four years at State, Ring went 4-10, 4.26, with a 1.57 WHIP, 5.1 BB/9, and 7.3 K/9 in 137 2/3 total innings. He did not move on to pro ball.
