So what happened on the first of June (from 2013-2019)?

Hitter of the Day

On June 1, 2016, Strasburg's Michael Curry, from Georgia, went 4-6, with three runs scored and two RBIs in the Express's 13-7 victory over Front Royal. Curry went on to hit a total of .302/.364/.440 in 116 at-bats that summer, with 25 runs, 10 doubles, two home runs, and a 10/27 BB/K ratio. He didn't make the top 15 hitters that summer, but ATVL named him to the "last five" (first five out of the top 15). In his three years at Georgia, Curry hit .295/.367/.495 in 647 at-bats, with 101 runs, 27 doubles, 34 home runs, 133 RBIs, and a 68/155 BB/K ratio. The San Diego Padres picked him in the 16th round of the 2018 draft, and he has spent two seasons in the minor leagues so far (he's still active). In 2019, he was in the Low-A Midwest League, and hit .285/.379/.437 in 284 at-bats.

Pitcher of the Day

On June 1, 2019, New Market's Logan Morrison fired five shutout innings in his first start for the team against Woodstock. From Luray, the righthander allowed two hits, no walks, and struck out eight. His bullpen let him down, though, so he didn't get a win. He was New Market's best starter in '19; he finished the year 2-2, 3.64, with 26 strikeouts in 29 2/3 innings pitched. After three seasons (well, two and a fifth, but you know what I mean) at Concord, Morrison is 9-5, 4.46, with 86 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings pitched.
