Jason Sass – Assistant Coach, Myers Automotive AAA U13

Jason has a wealth of high level experience as both a player and coach that will be extremely valuable to the players and others coaches with the Myers U13 AAA team. He has coached in the Ottawa region as a parent with two children who grew up playing competitive hockey at the Tier I and II levels since 2010, and has captured many league, tournament, and playoff championships with his teams. Jason brings many qualities to our coaching staff, and is especially strong in the areas of motivation, modern skill development, and in his ability to analyze his own team and opponents. In his playing days, Jason captured provincial championships in both Bantam and Midget hockey, before graduating to play Junior in Manitoba. As a player, he was also was invited to take part in a Hockey Canada regional U17 selection camp. Professionally, Jason has had a long career and continues to work with the federal government.

Jason will serve as a senior assistant coach on Andy Bryan’s staff and play a key role in planning, bench management and team and player development for the 2020-21 season.

Hanna Turpeinen – Assistant Coach, Myers Automotive AAA U13

Born in Lieksa, Finland, Hanna is currently the Head Hockey Instructor & Senior Player Development Specialist for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Programs at the Sensplex Facilities. There, she is responsible for planning and leading ice sessions for thousands of players annually from beginner to elite and for training and developing OSHP instructional staff. She has been with the Senators organization for the past three plus years, and is one of the top instructors in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
Prior to beginning her career as a professional coach and instructor, she played in the National Women’s League in Finland and represented her country internationally at the World U18 Women’s Championships in 2008 and was a member of the senior national team for Team Finland during the 2010-11 season. Last season she was an assistant coach at the Midget AA level with the Ottawa Lady Sens, and became a Power Edge Pro (PEP) certified instructor.

Hanna is will play an instrumental role as an assistant coach for the Myers U13 AAA team; specializing in advanced individual skill development and working primarily in-game with our defense. We couldn’t be more excited to add Hanna’s expertise to our coaching staff for the 2020-21 season.
