A former Physical Education teacher, Brian has been coaching hockey and/or working in player & coach development since 1986.   His coaching career started in Newfoundland and since moving to Ottawa in 1997 his roles as a high performance coach, skills coach and coach developer have rewarded him with experiences and opportunities across Canada and in Europe.   

Brian is currently the Coach Development Coordinator with Hockey Eastern Ontario and very active in the delivery of Hockey Canada coach development clinics and programs.  He has worked with HEO’s Program of Excellence as a coach on their OHL Gold Cup team and as a lead instructor in their U13, U14 and U15 camps. Brian has also attended Hockey Canada’s National U17 Program of Excellence as a Guest Coach.

He is co-owner and Director of Business Development with SPS Hockey Development, an Ottawa based development business working with players, teams and associations within the Ottawa region as well as Asiago, Italy.  Brian also holds the role of Head Bantam Scout for the Rockland Nationals Jr A hockey club.

A teaching and development coach first, Brian is driven by a coaching purpose that is based on dedicating himself to the growth and development of all players and working to ensure that they are all able to experience a variety of successes, achieve their goals and progress on their chosen hockey pathway.
