Date:  Source: Ottawa AAA Myers Automotive

Steve has been involved in hockey in some capacity either playing, coaching, teaching or watching for the past 40 years.
He has been coaching competitive hockey for the past 14 years at all levels from major atom to major midget.
He started coaching with Brockville Minor Hockey before moving to the Rideau St Lawrence Kings where he was head coach for 4 seasons.

The past two seasons he has been assistant coach with the Upper Canada Cyclones Minor Bantam and Major Peewee teams.

His teams over these 14 years have had much success:
3 league championships, 2 playoff championships and over a dozen tournament championships. But more importantly than these accomplishments is the number of players that he has coached who have moved on to having success in hockey and in life.

In November of 2018, he became the Ottawa scouting consultant for Global Hockey Talent. In this short time he has scouted players in the Ottawa and surrounding area and helped them in preparing themselves for success in hockey in school and their life after hockey.

As a head coach he highly emphasize’s teamwork, respect, discipline, fair play, enthusiasm, commitment, effort, and tenacity. He will provide a safe and positive learning environment that respects the process of player and team development as much as the result of winning or losing.

His practices will be fun, up-tempo, high paced, with a focus on individual skills, individual tactics, team tactics and systems. The players will be provided with the skills, tools and feedback necessary to compete to their maximum individual potential in a team environment. Joining Steve will be Steve Smith who has been coaching competitively for over a decade, most recently coached U18 AAA with the Brockville Braves & Minor Midget AA with RSL.

Discipline and respect are a must; as such, players and parents will respect opponents and game officials, Myers rules, our team rules, and each other.

He and his coaching staff are very excited to be joining the Myers team and being given the opportunity to coach the Minor Bantam team to what they have no doubt, will be a very successful and enjoyable season.
