While pursuing his degree in Finance at Carleton University, Zach volunteered to be an assistant coach with a Major Peewee AAA team in 2012.  What began as a way for him to stay around the game after his playing days, quickly developed into a passion for coaching hockey.  After 7 seasons coaching at the AAA level, from Peewee to U18/Midget, Zach’s love for coaching hockey has grown into a desire to become a full time professional in the world of hockey.

Having spent several seasons working as an instructor with various skill development companies, as well as completing many Hockey Canada training and professional development courses, Zach’s ability to develop players has grown tremendously.  In 2017, he started his own skills development program, which he has grown into SPS Hockey Development, a professional skill development company.  SPS Hockey works with hockey players ranging from AAA to Professional.  This passion for skill development translates directly into Zach’s coaching, as he places a premium on the development of players.

The last three seasons, Zach spent coaching in the HEO U18 AAA league.  Zach knows what it takes for players to succeed in that league, as well as what coaches, scouts and general managers are looking for in Bantam players.  Along with his staff, he is eager to work with 17 young men and their families.

During an important year in their development, with the potential of being drafted to a CCHL Club and with an opportunity to compete for a provincial title on the line, Zach is thrilled to have the opportunity to coach the Myers Bantam AAA team.
