ACHA Rankings for Feb. 2, 2020: 3 Teams Hold in Regionals Spots Ahead of Tournament

Date:  Source: Western Collegiate Club Hockey Association

In the tenth and penultimate release of the ACHA Rankings for the 2019-2020 season, 7 WCCHA teams held pat in the top 20, including 3 currently within Regional spots. Just one weekend remains ahead of the final ACHA Rankings, but it's a big one, with all seven WCCHA teams in the top 20 facing off in the Carla Berg Cup Playoffs (rank change / rating change):

#4 University of St. Thomas (NO CHANGE) - No games played since a sweep of UMD two weeks ago, the Tommies hold a very strong position in the Rankings with just 2-3 games remaining.

#10 University of Wisconsin (+1) - The Badgers regained their spot lost to the Gophers despite an idle weekend, but will look for a strong display to fend off other top 12 challengers

#11 University of Minnesota (-1) - A surprising loss and tie to St. John's dropped Minnesota one spot, with the gap between 11 and 13 (out of Regionals positioning) at .868 points.

----- ------- ------ ------- ------- --- -----

#14 UW-Eau Claire (+2) - After two more wins ran their streak to 17 in a row, the Blugolds continued their climb - but will be deadset on the autobid coming in the weekend.

#16 North Dakota State (+2) - Two more big wins against previous #19 have the Bison ready to make a push this weekend.

#17 Gustavus Adolphus (-1) - In a particularly tight area of the rankings, an idle Gustavus dropped two spots, putting them in win or go home territory this weekend.

#18 Minnesota-Duluth (-1) - Also falling a spot despite an off weekend, the Bulldogs join others on the outside looking in at Regionals save for an autobid.

North Dakota was the lone WCCHA team to drop out of the top 20 (to #21).

Just one final weekend remains until the final rankings and Regional/National bids are confirmed, with only the 2020 WCCHA Tournament to be contested. With a potential championship meaning an autobid for those outside the top 12, this weekend's showcase event is shaping up to be the most competitive in the history of the league.
