In the ninth release of the ACHA Rankings for the 2019-2020 season, 8 WCCHA teams stay put in the top 20, including 3 currently within Regional spots. Just two weeks remain in the ACHA regular season, heightening the drive for qualification in the run in. Here are how WCCHA fared in the second to last ACHA Central Region Rankings (rank change / rating change):
#4 University of St. Thomas (NO CHANGE) - With two wins last weekend against Minnesota-Duluth, the Tommies held firm in one of the two top seed sports for Regionals
#11 University of Minnesota (+1) - The Gophers swapped spots with this past weekend's opponent Wisconsin after a split that saw the U take a +3 goal differential from the series
#10 University of Wisconsin (-1) - The Badgers dropped a solitary spot (and just .046 behind Minnesota) after a split at home, but the Badgers gap with #12 Adrian is a more comfortable .750 with only the WCCHA Tournament remaining
----- ------- ------ ------- ------- --- -----
#15 Gustavus Adolphus (-2) - After a week that saw two big wins early followed by a loss and tie to #19 North Dakota, the Gusties dropped two spots in the Rankings.
#16 UW-Eau Claire (+1) - A big sweep over St. Cloud State helped the streaking Blugolds move up another spot to #16.
#17 Minnesota-Duluth (-1) - Two competitive games against #4 St. Thomas ultimately ended in defeat, dropping the Bulldogs just one spot to #17.
#18 North Dakota State (NO CHANGE) - Two max wins against UW-La Crosse and a one-goal loss to Minnesota keeps the Bison at #18.
#19 University of North Dakota (-1) - A big win and tie against Gustavus somehow dropped the Fighting Hawks' overall rating, thus holding steady this week.
Just two weeks remain until the final rankings and Regional/National bids are confirmed, with the 2020 WCCHA Tournament the only remaining action for a number of teams in the top 20. With a potential championship meaning an autobid for those outside the top 12, next weekend's tournament is shaping up to be the most competitive in the history of the league.
