NYU Splits Home-and-Home Weekend with West Chester University

New York, NY – The Violets kicked off the weekend with a Friday night win against West Chester University at The Ice Line. Saturday, the teams faced off again at Chelsea Piers, this time WCU taking home the win.

On Friday NYU Hockey traveled to West Chester, PA to start their weekend against West Chester University. The puck dropped, and the Violets were quick to gain a lead as senior, Brandon Ritchey, made the first goal of the night. The first period came to a close, and the second period began with the Violets gaining momentum as freshman, Aidan Wright, scored a 5-on-3 power play goal. WCU scored, however senior, Frank Horowitz, kept the two-point lead alive with another power play goal that closed out the second period. With third period underway the boys were buzzing. West Chester was able to pick up two goals, but the Violets were determined to stay ahead. Wright scored his second power play goal of the evening, and Ritchey brought the final score to 5-3 with less than two minutes left in the game.

Saturday night the Violets hosted WCU at Chelsea Piers. After a penalty free first period, West Chester had gained a 3-0 lead against NYU. With second period underway the boys stayed strong on the defense, and had some successful penalty kills. Second period ended with WCU leading 4-0. Freshman, Mac Brice, brought the final score to 6 – 1, with the Violets first and only goal of the evening in the third period.

NYU will be on the road this Friday and Saturday as they face University of Rhode Island.
