Cambridge, Ont. - The first two weeks of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) season are in the books, and league standings are starting to take shape. 

There are no games scheduled in the GOJHL tonight (Sept. 17, 2019) but a combined 52 games have been played in the Ontario Hockey Association’s Junior B league thus far. This season’s first ‘GOJHL Week in Review’ can be seen HERE

A number of teams are off to hot starts, which will be highlighted in the conference breakdowns below. 

 

GOLDEN HORSESHOE CONFERENCE

Since Sept. 9, the Hamilton Kilty B’s have picked up two wins and a tie, which bumped their season record to 4-0-1 to lead all Golden Horseshoe Conference teams. 

After a year hiatus, the Caledonia Corvairs picked up right where they left off as they are off to a 4-1-0 start through their first five games of the 2019-20 regular season. Caledonia went all the way to the OHA Sutherland Cup finals in 2018 before taking a leave of absence in 2018-19.

MIDWESTERN CONFERENCE

The Listowel Cyclones went all the way to the OHA Sutherland Cup semifinals last season and this year they have once again gotten off on the right foot. The Cyclones currently lead the Midwestern Conference through four games with a 3-0-0-1 record and seven points. 

Right behind Listowel is the team that handed them their lone overtime loss, and that’s the Brampton Bombers. Brampton’s 3-1-0-0 record has earned them six points thus far and a second place position in the GOJHL’s Midwest. The Bombers have picked up three straight wins, too. 

The defending OHA Sutherland Cup-winning Waterloo Siskins have gotten off to a tough 0-3-0-0 start to the season. They will look to turn things around when they back in action against Elmira on Sat., Sept. 21.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

The 2018-19 OHA Sutherland Cup finalist London Nationals are off to a perfect start in the GOJHL’s Western Conference. Through four games, the Nationals are 4-0-0-0 and have scored a Western Conference-leading 23 goals. London will look to keep the win streak alive in their two games this week. 

The Leamington Flyers split their two games this week. They earned a 6-0 win over St. Thomas and lost 7-6 in OT to the Stars the next night on Sept. 13. Leamington’s record stands at 3-0-0-1 and they are holding onto second place in the Western Conference. 

Strathroy and the Sarnia Legionnaires make up the bottom of the Western Conference standings with their 1-1-0-1 records.
