Braves Announce Player Signings for 2019 2020 Season

Following the opening weekend of training camp the Tavistock Braves are pleased to announce player signings to date.

Returning players from 2018-19 include forwards Zac Berg, Tanner Johnson, Bradley Smith, Ryan Donat, Drew Gerth, Josh Helgerman, Justin Labrie, Mitch McKay and Ben Wiffen. On defense, Brody Oliver, Zach Otto, Samson Walsom and Connor Otto are set for another year in Tavistock. In net, Jensen Van Boekel will return to the club for his fourth season.

New to the team this season are forwards Patrick Vulgan, Zach Gladding, Jack Becker and Ian Glendinning, defenseman Andrew Van Boekel and goaltender Carter Roth.

Vulgan, 19, was acquired by the Braves in a trade with the Dundas Blues. Vulgan posted 61 points in 42 games played with Dundas in 2018-19, winning Bloomfield Division Rookie of the Year.

Gladding, 18, captained the Waterloo Wolves Midget AA team to an OHF finals appearance in 2018-19.

Becker, 16, along with Glendinning, Van Boekel and Roth, all 17, were key members of the Huron Perth Lakers Midget AAA team last season.

The Braves 2019 Training Camp kicks off on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday August 18th with practices and scrimmages and continues all week, leading up to the first preseason game, at home on Thursday, August 22nd against the Mount Forest Patriots. The full preseason schedule is below.

Upon completion of the preseason, the Braves attention will turn to the regular season. The Braves 50th anniversary will begin with the home opener against the Wellesley Applejacks on Saturday, September 14th, 7:30 PM puck drop. In conjunction with the home opener the Braves will be hosting a chicken wing dinner prior to the game complete with memories from the past 50 years of Braves hockey.
