NYC Warhawks vs NY Roughriders @ Van Courtlandt Field

Game 1 Results:
Warhawks (W) 9 Riders (L) 6

In game 1 of the best 2 out of 3 series the Warhawks took a shocking victory against the Riders Ace Wil Rios. Brandon Percival, Cesar Almonte and Victor Leroux went a combined of 7 for 12 and drove in all 9 of the team's runs. It was a tough day for both pitchers on both sides as Warhawks starter Efren Rodriguez only lasted 3 2/3 innings while giving up 3 runs. The Riders started off good by going up 3 to 1 and held that lead until the top of the 4th inning. The Warhawks came out strong scoring 7 unanswered runs in the top of the 4th. This was Rider's ace Wil Rio's first bad outing of the season. He only lasted 3 innings, giving up 6 runs, 5 of them earned. Riders slowly were trying to come back against Warhawks middle reliever Robert Perez. They scored 2 runs in the 5th inning and 1 run in the 6th to keep the game close at 9-6. However that wasn't enough for the Riders. Warhawks manager Joel brought in his main weapon from the bullpen; Miguel Reyes. Reyes earned his first ever MABL NYC playoff save by going 2 2/3 innings striking out 7 and only giving up a run. The only highlight of the game for the Riders was Rocky Marmolejos driving in 3 runs.Yet, it wasn't enough for this powerhouse ball club as the Riders dropped game 1 of the best of 3 series.

Game 2 Results:
Riders 10 (W) Warhawks 3 (L)

In game 2 of the best of 3, Riders needed to come back strong to avoid a disappointing end to their 26-4 season. This was a good one to watch as the Riders went with their number 2 starter Steven Moran. On the other hand, the Warhawks went with starter Joel Cabrera. Joel Cabrera lifetime against the Riders have not done well going back to the Cincy Reds days in 2016. In the first 2 innings it was a pitchers duel as both teams were tied at 1. The Riders then scored 3 runs in the top of the 3rd inning. Rocky Marmolejos was the highlight of the game once again by driving in 2 runs. Moving along into the 5th and 6th inning Riders scored 6 unanswered runs. Steven Moran pitched a really solid game by going 6 innings with 3 runs allowed and striking out 8 Warhawks.  Cabrera did not look as strong as he did in the Wildcard matchup against the Beers. Cabrera lasted 5 1/3 innings  giving up 5 earned runs and only striking out 2. Cabrera after the game mentioned that his shoulder was bothering him. After that, lefty starter Steven Fadul came in out of the bullpen for Joel Cabrera. Fadul struggled out of the pen by giving up 4 runs in 1/3 of an inning. The only highlight for the Warhawks was Victor Leroux and Christian Gomez who both went 4 for 5. The Riders sealed the deal in game 2 by winning 10-3 as they forced a winner take all game 3 to see which team would represent 2019 MABL NYC'S championship game at Preller on Sunday.

Game 3 Results:
Warhawks 14 (W) Riders 0 (L)

The final game of the series played in the same day did not look as competitive as the first 2 games. In the final game the Warhawks went with ace Miguel Reyes. Reyes pitched almost 3 innings in the first game. The Riders in game 3 decided to go with Steven Moran who had just pitched 6 innings a game before. It was another pitchers duel up until the 4th inning when DH Joel Cabrera hit a grand slam off Victor Franco as the Warhawks went up 4-0. The Warhawks continued to mash the depleted Riders staff. The Warhawks blew the game open in the 7th by scoring 9 runs. The Warhawks hit another grand slam this time by "El Firmao" Yeifri Valerio. This sets a team and league record by the Warhawks in hitting 2 grand slams in one playoff game. Warhawks ace Miguel Reyes continued to cruise as he went 7 strong in game 3 with 10 strikeouts and 0 runs allowed. The commonly known Riders offense was quiet all game as they did not find a way in salvaging this victory. Unfortunately, this was a disappointing end by the number one seeded Riders as they were in defeat 14-0.

This will be the Warhawks first ever championship appearance as they will wait winner of either Marlins or Dbacks.
