2012 season to conclude tonight

The Will County CrackerJacks have announced that the 2012 season will conclude after tonight’s game against the Illinois Lincolns.

After the CrackerJacks and Lincolns announced they would be immediately resigning from the Midwest Collegiate League last night, the two Will County clubs were set to play a five-game series called the “Battle of Will County” next week.

But after further consideration, the CrackerJacks decided it was best to let players from their club pursue other options both within the Midwest Collegiate League and outside of the league to continue to improve their individual games.  In addition, allowing players to sign with other teams will give them a chance to win a summer championship in 2012.

The CrackerJacks began play in 2011 and finished the year with a 25-13 regular season record.  The club went 4-1 in postseason play to capture the Midwest Collegiate League Championship.  The 2012 club went 23-13, boosting the franchise’s overall record to 52-27 in just under two years.  The 2013 season will begin next June.
