Martin scores the game winning goal for Team NOHA

Kitchener, Ont. – Mitchell Martin scores the game winning goal for Team NOHA with 40 seconds to go in the third period over GTHL Red.

Team NOHA scored the lone goal of the first period, credit to Devon Savignac from Chase Stillman.

Shane Wright tied it up for GTHL Red from Brandt Clarke, Josh Bloom just 22 seconds into the second. Team NOHA fired back to take the lead – goal by Ethan Marois from Stephen Pszeniczny, Cameron Walker. And with just 40 seconds left, Brandt Clarke tied it up once again for GTHL Red from Josh Bloom.

With a minute to go in the third it looked like we would be heading to overtime until Mitchell Martin sent it home from Jack Matier, Devon Savignac 16:20 in the period for the game winner!

Shots were 43 to 12 in favour of Team GTHL Red.

Players of the game were Jesse Fishman for GTHL Red and Jake Marois for Team NOHA.

As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
