Team HEO took their first Win of the OHL Gold Cup

Kitchener, Ont. – Team HEO stayed strong through all 60 minutes for a 4-1 win over Team HNO.

Mason McTavish gave Team HEO a one goal lead in the first period from Ranvir Gill and Brody Fournier.

HEO extended their lead into the second with goals from Stuart Rolofs- Isaiah Moran-Weekes, Jake Coleman and Giovanni Morneau from Easton Ryan, Gabriel Crete.

However, Noah Broughton defeated any chance of an HEO shut out, scoring on the power play for HNO from Matthew Valiquette with two minutes to go in the second frame.

Stuart Rolofs sealed the win with an empty netter from Jake Coleman for HEO.

Players of the game were Gage Stewart for Team HNO and Stuart Rolofs for Team HEO.

Shots were 35 to 13 in favour of Team HEO.

The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
