Week 18 Scores and Stats
Date: Mar 8, 2020
Love watching the intensity going up in the playoffs..... A couple great games tonight.
(2) THUNDER 77 vs. (7) ECB 61: ECB kept this one close for the first half, but Elliot was getting to the line and Andrew Russell was hitting threes, and that was enough for the Thunder to avoid any upset as they pushed the lead to double digits in the second half and eventually won by 16. Elliot ended the game with 36 to lead all scorers.
(3) SPARTANS 64 vs. (6) Flames 61: There have been some big scoring games this year by players and teams, but this game honestly had Game of The Year potential. The Flames rose to the occasion playing the heavily favored Spartans, leading much of the game, while the Spartans never fell apart playing from behind multiple times. The two teams and specifically Josh Langford went shot for shot over the final 3 minutes in just a great run of bball, which all led to a crazy final 15 seconds. With 15 seconds and the game tied the Flames seemed to control their fate, but a turnover led to an intentional foul and the Spartans with 2 from the line and the ball back. But Jack back rimmed both free throws, so the Spartans had 5 second to keep the game from going to OT. After getting the ball inbounds, Jack got the ball back and after looking like he was going at the rim pulled up on a dime from three and drilled it leaving only 1.5 seconds on the clock, slight redemption for the free throws. The Flames couldn't convert and the Spartans survive the scare to move on...... Josh Langford hit 6 threes and dropped 24, while Mike Poole responded with 4 threes and 23 points for the Flames
(1) MONEYBALL 96 vs. (8) Beauties 65: After an opening 20 minutes where this game stayed within 5 points, Weezy decided to turn back the clock and dropped 17 in the first half as Moneyball started to pull away and eventually blew this one open to win by 30. Devin Norris led all scorers with 38 by the end of the game.
(5) KNICKS 60 vs. (4) Warriors 58 (OVERTIME): The classic 4 versus 5 seed led to our only upset of the night, but not before OT. With Knicks up 13 with 5.5 minutes left, the Warriors went on a run with Nate hitting back to back threes late, as the Warriors clawed all the way back and eventually sent the game to OT as Rosey hit a teardrop in the lane as time expired. In OT the Knicks hit a quick three and then executed in the paint to go up 5, but again the Warriors had a chance following three free throws by Nate, they forced 24 second count and got the ball back down 2 with 5 seconds left. But in what looked like a broken play, the ball ended up coming loose and the resulting scramble ate the rest of the clock preserving the win for the Knicks. Nate had 20 for the Warriors, while the Knicks had a balanced scoring attack across the board.
