The UCF Knights regained their footing this homecoming weekend, sweeping the Embry-Riddle Eagles in a home and home series.
Friday’s game took place in Daytona. It was a tough competition between the teams, leading to a 2-2 tie at the end of the third period. UCF scored a third time in overtime, securing their first win of the weekend.
The Knights returned to home ice for Saturday’s game. Liam McGrath got the first goal of the game, assisted by Brandon Blaszczyk and Tyler Walkinshaw. Embry-Riddle tied it up later in the period with a power play goal. The Eagles scored again in the second period, gaining the lead as the teams headed into the third. But UCF quickly pulled themselves back. Walkinshaw got a goal with an assist from Hunter Chard, tying the game back up. A minute later, Shane O’Donnell, assisted by McGrath and Blaszczyk, scored once more for the Knights. Embry-Riddle and UCF spent the rest of the game trying to catch up or further their lead, respectively, but there were no more goals. UCF won the second game of the weekend with the same score as the first: 3-2.
Let’s see the Knights bring that momentum into the upcoming tournament!
