Long Beach State Routes The University of San Diego

Date:  Source: Long Beach State University Hockey

The Long Beach State (LBSU) hockey team showed up ready to play Saturday night against a shorthanded University of San Diego (USD) team, defeating them 22-1. This was after some extra rest due to Fridays game being postponed “TBD”.

Beach started the scoring a minute and a half into the game with a goal by Ryan Osterkamp, which was the first of many. Osterkamp ended the night with 4 goals, but he was not the only LBSU skater to have a big offensive night. 11 players had at least 2 points. Luke Miller lead the way with 7 goals and 4 assists. Long Beach also displayed a prolific power play attack. Converting on all 7 of their opportunities with the extra man advantage. It was not just the offense getting it done for Long Beach. The defense also did a magnificent job, holding the opposition to just 13 shots on goal. The University of San Diego team played hard throughout the game, but it was an obvious mismatch.

Long Beach will have a tough test next week as they host 3 games, starting with University of Southern California (USC) on Thursday October 11th at 7:35pm. Friday they will face-off against San Jose State University (SJSU) at 9;15pm. Then again on Saturday vs SJSU at 7;35pm at Lakewood Ice.
