The UCF Knights swept the Miami Hurricanes in their weekend series on home ice. These two wins improve the Knights record to a perfect 3-0-0 and have instilled confidence in what hopes to be a great season for the team.

The first game of the series, held on Friday, September 28th, was a special teams frenzy. Of the eight goals scored between the two teams, only one was scored in five-on-five play. The remaining seven were all scored on powerplays; four for the Knights and three for the Hurricanes. Forward Shane O’Donnell led the Knights in points, racking up two goals and an assist

The second game of the series, held on Saturday, September 29th, proved to be just as eventful as the first, albeit in different ways. Offensive production was lower for both teams compared to the first game, but that didn’t stop Knights forward Drew Bengtson from ripping himself six goals on the night. Yes. SIX goals. Things got a little hectic in the latter half of the third period as well, with nine players between both teams in the penalty box simultaneously after a skirmish.

The Knights now have a two week break before their next match-up against the rival USF Bulls. USF is currently 2-1-0 after splitting a series with the Tampa Spartans this weekend. They will face Miami twice before they make the trip to Orlando for the October 19th game.

Be sure to come out and watch us take on the USF Bulls in this frozen edition of the War on I-4 on October 19th! The game will be held at the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den at 10:00PM. Tickets are $5 at the door, FREE FOR STUDENTS WITH ID. #GoKnights #ChargeOn
