After prevailing against St. Marys in their home opener, the Leamington hit the road in back to back nights beginning Friday in St. Thomas.
It was there first game against the Stars since March when they eliminated Leamigton in Game 7, 1-0.
Unfortunately for the Flyers they would have to play from behind as St. Thomas found the scoreboard first with 3 minutes remaining, as Jake Burton beat rookie goalie Chase Johnson. Despite the score Leamington outshot St. Thomas 12-8..
The second period the teams would draw even thanks to 16 year-old Johnny Ulincy as he beat Stars goalie Anthony Hurtubise for the lone goal of the period.
Jackson Brown would beat Johnson midway through the third period to give the Stars the lead. Then 3 minutes later, Johnson gifted the Stars a goal as he gaffed playing the puck and shot it into the net. Kade McKibbin would blast a point shot by everyone to draw with in one. With the extra attacker, 16 year-old Ryan Gagnier dazzled in the offensive zone making several quick passes to open space before he beat Hurtubise to tie it at 3's with 90 seconds remaining.
Teams would skate to a 3-3 tie after two periods of overtime solved nothing. Final shots were 36-32 for Leamington.
Less than 24 hours later they were on the road again, this time in Sarnia to face the Legionaires.
Like their previous two games, Leamington would have to play from behind as Ryan Polidori was beat on the power play just 7 minutes in. From there Sarnia doubled their lead 5 minutes later. But to close out the frame, the Flyers cut their deficit to one, thanks to Cameron Armstrong.
The lone goal of the second period came at the hands of Flyers forward Maddux Rychel who finished off a pass from Wyatt O'Neill. Shots through 40 minutes were 19-19.
In the third period Polidori would be beat by William Redick for the second time of the night to give Sarnia a 3-2 lead. Like the night before the Flyers pull their goalie for the extra attacker and get rewarded. This time it is 17-year old Leamingnton native, Adam Jeffrey finding the loose puck in a scramble and burning it with 21.3 seconds to remain.
For the second straight night, the Flyers are headed to overtime. In the first overtime period, Leamington did not managed to get a shot on target and the Legionaires capitalized on a turnover in their offensive zone. As Nolan De Gurse tucked the puck over Polidori to secure a 4-3 Sarnia win in overtime.
The Flyers now have a 1-0-1-1 record and sit second in the Western Conference. They are getting scoring by committee with 7 players having multiple points through 3 games. While Rychel and Jeffrey are tied for team lead with 4 points each.
