The Toronto Patriots have acquired goaltender Jesse Hodgson from the St. Thomas Stars of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League, in return for a player development fee.
Hodgson, 19, hails from Newmarket, and played in 26 games as a rookie for his hometown Hurricanes in 2016-17. The late 1998-birth year split time last year between the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League, the Brantford 99ers of the Junior 'B' GOJHL, before landing in St. Thomas, a London, ONT suberb, late in the campaign.
An alumnus of the Central Ontario Wolves minor hockey system, Hodgson switched to the Whitby Wildcats for his midget year, backstopping the talent-laden club to an OMHA title that year.
Hodgson also featured for one game as an affiliated player in the Ontario Junior Hockey League in 2015-16, appearing for the Orangeville Flyers in his junior debut.
He will look to carry the load as the starter in net this year for the Patriots, replacing the graduated Tyler Fassl, who has moved on to play for Wilfrid Laurier University of USports.
