The Brantford Red Sox held their year-end banquet on Wednesday August 30th at the Polish Hall in Brantford. Several individuals were recognized for their accomplishments by team owners Rick and Connie Pomerleau:
- Nick Burdett was named the team's 2018 MVP. Nick played in all 36 regular season games this season, and finished amongst the team leaders in hits (33, 2nd overall), runs scored (19, 2nd overall), and RBI (21, 2nd overall) in 136 at bats (tied 1st).
- David Mendham was named the team's rookie of the year (award accepted by his father, Coach Dan Mendham). David was the only other Red Sox player to appear in all 36 of the team's regular season games, and led the team in hits (42) and runs (20, tied 1st overall), and finished with a .309 batting average over 136 at bats. David is now attending college at Connors State, you can follow his team along on their Facebook page here.
- David "Farley" Stephens was recognized for all of his hard work and long hours put in as batboy this season.
- Sue Harris was recognized for 25 years of volunteer service to the Red Sox organization. We hope Sue enjoys her retirement from the scorebooth and we look forward to seeing her in the stands next year!
