BARRIE – Branfy Infante's grand slam with one out in the bottom of the sixth inning turned a three-run deficit into a one-run lead, and the Barrie Baycats never looked back in an 8-5 win over the Hamilton Cardinals in Game 3 of their best-of-seven semifinal Sunday night at Coates Stadium.
Barrie leads the series 3-0 and can advance to the final with a win Tuesday in Hamilton.
Kevin Atkinson went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI, Kyle DeGrace had an RBI and a run, Jeff Cowan scored twice, Glenn Jackson singled twice, doubled and scored, and Ryan Spataro drove in a run.
Santos Arias (2-0) picked up the win, throwing two scoreless inning of relief with a walk and strikeout.
Chris Nagorski picked up his first save of the playoffs, striking out one and yielding a hit in the ninth.
Emilis Guerrero started and went five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
For Hamilton, Jon Dziomba doubled twice and drove in three, and Chris Beer went 4-for-5 with a run. Grant Arnold drove in a run and scored twice, and Laine Renaud added a solo blast.
