Brantford Red Sox field manager Wayne Forman has resigned.

The Intercounty Baseball League team’s former longtime catcher just completed his rookie season as manager.

“The reason that I took this position was to maintain some integrity of the Red Sox dynasty,” said Forman, 40, who has been with the team for nearly two decades, winning seven IBL championships, including a record six straight from 2008-13.

“I put a lot of pressure on myself to do that but I came to the realization that those days are gone. I needed to step back and prioritize what the most important things in my life were and that was my young family.”

Brantford Red Sox owner Rick Pomerleau said he understands Forman’s decision.

“It’s unfortunate for the Red Sox that he resigned,” said Pomerleau, noting that he has yet to consider a successor to Forman.

“Your family and your life take priority over your sport. We completely understand. I’ve actually known Wayne for probably about 10 years now. He’s always been a class act, an excellent person and he’s been awesome with my kids.

“We wish him the best of luck in the future and we’ll see him at the park. It’s going to be nice to see him as a spectator.”
