Brantford Red Sox vs. Hamilton Cardinals
August 1, 2018
Brantford hosted Hamilton for the second of three scheduled meeting between the two teams in a week. Having beat the Cardinals 17-6 three days prior, the Sox hoped to continue the trend and advance up the IBL standings. Brantford was indeed successful again this evening, albeit by a much closer 4-2 margin.
Euclides Leyer got the win for Brantford, with another solid start of 7 and 2/3 innings pitched, allowing 0 runs on 4 hits and striking out 7. Stefan Strecker and Tyler Gillies also pitched in relief.
Nick Burdett led the Sox offence with 3 hits and 2 runs scored. This game also notably featured a return behind the plate by now player/manager Wayne Forman, who had made a few appearances at bat already this season but had not caught a game since the 2016 IBL playoffs. This also had to be one of the quickest Brantford Red Sox games in recent history, clocking in at a brisk 2 hours and 14 minutes.
