After moving past the Akwesasne Indians in the fifth and final game of the OJBLL Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday afternoon at Darlington Arena in Clarington, the Green Gaels did not have to wait long to find their opponents in the Ontario Championship Series.

The Elora Mohawks also needed five games to move past the Six Nations Rebels in the Western Conference Final, winning 9 – 8 on Monday night to move on to face the Green Gaels, with the winner earning a birth at the Founder’s Cup National Championship in Akwesasne from August 12 – 19.

The Green Gaels finished the regular season as the Eastern Conference leaders with a record of 18 – 2 giving them the right to host games 1, 3, and 5. Elora finished as the #2 seed in the Western Conference with a record of 17 – 3.

The series will get under way on Friday, August 3rd at 8PM as Elora will travel east to visit the Green Gaels at Darlington Arena in Clarington. It will be a quick turnaround for both teams as Game 2 will take place on Sunday, August 5th at the Elora Community Centre at 7PM.

Game 3 will shift back to Darlington Arena in Clarington on Tuesday, August 7th at 8PM, while a prospective Game 4 in Elora is still to be confirmed, Game 5 will be back at Darlington Arena in Clarington on Friday, August 10th, if necessary.

As both teams play in separate conferences, the only opportunity for Elora and the Green Gaels to meet is in the Championship Series each year. Friday night will mark the first matchup between these two teams since the 2009 OJBLL Championship Series. The Green Gaels took that series 3 games to zero.

Tickets for Green Gaels Home Playoff Games are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, while children 12 and under are admitted free under the supervision of an adult. Kids, don’t forget to bring your helmet and stick to go on the floor in between periods at Darlington Arena for all remaining home playoff games!
