Brantford Red Sox at Hamilton Cardinals

July 29, 2018

Brantford snapped a seven-game losing streak yesterday with 9-2 win in Burlington.  Today they hoped the hits would continue in Hamilton.  And they did, with the Red Sox posting a decisive win over the Hamilton Cardinals.

The home side Cardinals struck first, posting 3 runs in the 2nd inning.  Red Sox starter Graham Tebbit would exit the game after a visit from the manager and trainer early in the 3rd inning. Brantford's bats picked up their fallen pitcher in the 4th inning, scoring 9 runs.  Hamilton would go on to double their run total to 6 over the course of the game, but Brantford added on another 8 for the 17-6 win,

Matt Betts came in on short notice and delivered 3.2 solid innings for the Sox to earn the win.  Tanner Guindon closed out the game with 3 strong innings and picked up the save.

Leading the Brantford offence were Ricky Murray (2 home runs, 3 hits, 4 runs, 2 RBIs) and Andris Rizquez (2 home runs, 2 hits, 2 runs, 5 RBIs).  DeAndre Asbury-Heath and Dan Jagdeo also hit home runs, their 2nd each in as many days.

The Red Sox close out the final week of the IBL regular season with a road game in London on Tuesday July 31. Then, three straight home games vs. the Cardinals on Wednesday August 1, the Majors on Friday August 3, and the Cardinals again on Saturday August 4.  We wrap up the regular season with a makeup game in Toronto on Sunday August 5.

With 5 games remaining Brantford's playoff position is firmly in their own hands, as the team looks to finish out the season strong and draw a favourable playoff position.  Be at the ballpark and make some noise for your boys this Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday!  Game times are all at 8pm.
