BRANTFORD – The Brantford Red Sox scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning in a 12-10 win over the London Majors Saturday afternoon at Arnold Anderson Stadium.
Andris Rizquez went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, Blake Kauer had three hits, three RBI and two runs, David Mendham went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run, Nic Burdett, Wilson Soriano and Sebastian Lech drove in a run apiece, Anthony Rizquez and Nicholas Burnell each had a hit and scored twice, and DeAndre Asbury-Heath added two hits and a run.
Tanner Guindon (3-0) picked up the win, throwing two scoreless innings of relief with two strikeouts, scattering three hits.
Tyler Gillies picked up the last three outs for his fifth save.
Starter Euclides Leyer gave up seven runs (six earned) on six hits over five innings. He walked four and struck out five.
For London, Cleveland Brownlee homered to set the franchise regular season record with 70. He had three RBI. Byron Reichstein had two hits, two runs and three RBI, Chris McQueen singled twice and scored twice, and RJ Fuhr went 3-for-5 with two runs.
Kelvin Pichardo (1-2) took the loss, giving up six runs (three earned) on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts over two innings.
Dylan Brooks started and went six innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Brantford improved to 8-12, and London fell to 13-8.
