HUNTSVILLE – The off-season signing period for the Huntsville Havoc hockey team is underway and today the team announces the return of President's Cup MVP Sy Nutkevitch.
"Bringing Sy back was a priority in our quest to repeat as SPHL champions," said Havoc Head Coach Glenn Detulleo. "He is an elite player in our league, but more importantly he represents our culture off the ice and in the community."
The Montreal native helped lead the Havoc to the SPHL championship last season, posting a career-high 62 points (21g, 41a) to lead Huntsville. His 5-goal, 8-assist effort in the post-season earned him SPHL Finals MVP honors.
"I'm thrilled to be back with the Havoc," said Nutkevitch. "Playing in front of the huge crowds at the VBC is one of the things I enjoy most about being a Havoc. The last two seasons have been incredible, especially bringing home a championship for the best fans in the league. There isn't a better organization and I'm happy to continue to be a part of the Havoc family."
Nutkevtich is entering his eighth season as a professional and his third with the Havoc. In 100 regular season games with Huntsville, he is averaging more than a point per game (112p, 21g, 80a).
The Havoc will honor the President's Cup winners by raising the championship banner at the first home game of the 2018-19 season on Friday, November 9.
