With the 2018 OJBLL Regular Season in the books, the Green Gaels finished atop the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 18 - 2. As the #1 seed in the playoffs, with the modified playoff format being used in 2018 for the first round where the top 3 seeds in each conference select their opponents from seeds 5 - 8, the Green Gaels selected their division rival #8 seed Newmarket Saints as their first round opponent.

The best-of-five series gets started this evening with Game #1 of the series taking place at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex at 8PM, with the series shifting back to Newmarket's Ray Twinney Recreation Complex on Sunday at 7PM for game #2. Game #3 will be back in Clarington on Thursday, June 28 at 8PM. Games #4 and #5 will take place, if necessary, on Saturday, June 30th in Newmarket at 7PM, and Sunday, July 1st in Clarington at 2PM.

The Saints finished the season with a record of 8 - 12 to claim the final playoff position. The finished the season with two big wins over the West Durham Ironheads and the Orillia Kings, both games they needed to win to claim the final position in the playoffs. Under a new coaching staff in 2018, the Saints put a young team on the floor but have seen a huge turn around in their fortunes after finishing the 2017 season with a record of 0 - 20. Newmarket is on the upswing and will be looking to gain valuable playoff experience for their young lineup of talented players, facing the top seeded Green Gaels.

The Gaels will be looking to start the playoffs on the right foot following a disappointing loss to the Oakville Buzz in the final game of the regular season at Joshua's Creek Arena. OJBLL Trade Deadline acquisitions Tyler Stinson, Tyler Goodchild, and Trent Boyd are continuing to get acclimated with their new surroundings and will be looking to build on their strong finish to the season with the Gaels throughout the first round of the playoffs.

Tickets for Green Gaels Home Playoff Games are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, while children under 12 are admitted free under the supervision of an adult. Kids are encouraged to bring their helmets and sticks to the arena to go on the floor in between periods.
