OJDL PLAYERS OF INTEREST: UNDRAFTED SNIPER OUT TO PROVE OHL SCOUTS WRONG

Date:  Source: OJDL - Ontario Junior Development League

Players of Interest is a weekly feature highlighting some of the fine young prospects in the Ontario Junior Development League during the 2018 season

Oliver Tarr of the Whitby Fury is tied for second place in scoring in the OJDL this season. His 10 points include eight goals – tops in the 10-team league – and two assists.

“Oliver went undrafted in the most recent OHL draft and instead of being negative and taking it to heart he has been working hard to prove everyone wrong,” said Matt Barbara, Whitby’s assistant GM/ director of scoutingOliver is continuing to grow and put on mass that is allowing him to be stronger on the ice when in tough battles. He may come off as a quiet kid but he is not afraid to show his emotions when finishing a check or going hard into the corners to battle for a loose puck.”

The 2002-born Uxbridge resident played last season for the Central Ontario Wolves AAA minor midgets

“Oliver is an offensive threat and after putting up a point a game in his minor midget season he has brought the same scoring touch to our OJDL team by being on pace to finish as the top goal scorer,” said Barbara. “The most exciting part about ‘Oli’s’ game is his skating ability and the pro release he has on his shot.”

“He is progressing every game and becoming a leader on the team to help along some of the younger players on our team. We are very fortunate to have Oliver on our team this year and as one of his coaches he has been a treat to watch every game.”
