OJDL CHAMPION COBOURG ‘MODEL’ CITIZENS OF DEVELOPMENT LEAG...
Date: Aug 9, 2019
Players of Interest is a weekly feature highlighting some of the fine young prospects in the Ontario Junior Development League during the 2018 season
• Tony Provenzano had five points in three games with the Orangeville Flyers of the OJDL last month.
Provenzano played minor midget for the Toronto Young Nats this past season.
“Plays a real heavy game with an edge,” said Mike Camilleri of the OJDL Flyers in his scouting report on Provenzano. “Has good overall skill set, makes plays and has a good shot.”
In his second year with the OJDL Flyers, Provenzano leads the team in points.
“Has a quick accurate release,” continued Camilleri. “Takes a hit to make a play, and good along the wall to win 50/50 puck battles. After one year of midget with Vaughan Kings this coming season, Provenzano will make the jump to junior.”
More OJDL Players of Interest:
• Dawson Manning of the Whitby Fury leads all OJDL pointgetters with 10 points in five games. He had a three-assist game in a 7-5 win over Pickering May 27.
• Aidan Dier and Jack Newsome of Cobourg East lead all OJDL defencemen in scoring with five points apiece.
Fans are welcome to attend the OJDL Showcase this weekend at Campus Ice Centre in north Oshawa. Games will be played Saturday, between 5 and 9:30 p.m., and Sunday, from 1:15 to 7 p.m.
