Team NOHA Win Consolation Bronze at the 2018 OHL Gold Cup

Kitchener, Ont. – Team NOHA won consolation bronze at the 2018 OHL Gold Cup in a close 4-3 game over Team HEO Sunday morning at Activa Sportsplex in Kitchener, Ontario.

Team NOHA took the early lead after Benjamin Brunette sent it home from David Campbell, Jack Stockfish.

Just 30 seconds into the second, Sean McGurn tied it up for Team HEO short handed, unassisted.

Hunter Brazier answered back quickly to take back the lead for Team NOHA from Gavin Brown.

Joshua Barnes got his first of the game on the power play for Team HEO from Kyle McDonald to tie it up, and Sean McGurn helped Team HEO to take back the lead from Chazka Bush, Kyle McDonald.

Team NOHA tied it up once again, thanks to Samuel Vachon on the power play, from Justin Mauro, Cole Goode.

4 minutes into the third, Benjamin Brunette scored on the power play, unassisted to make it 4-3 in favour of Team NOHA.

Players of the game were Hunter Brazier for Team NOHA and Sean McGurn for Team HEO.

The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
