HORVAT ANNOUNCED AS NEW HEAD COACH OF KOMOKA KINGS

KOMOKA, ONT – The Komoka Kings Junior Hockey Club of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) are pleased to announce the appointment of Ron Horvat as their new head coach.

            Owner, President, and General Manager Roop Chanderdat made the announcement today (April 3).

            Horvat has over 30 years of coaching experience including stops in the GOJHL in London, St. Thomas, and most recently in Chatham.  He started his coaching career as a player/coach for the Glasgow Eagles in Scotland.

            In addition to his junior and professional coaching resume, he has also worked extensively in minor hockey including being a coaching mentor for the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs and has worked with many respected players including nephew Bo Horvat who plays for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL).

            “Ron brings a wealth of knowledge and hockey experience to our team,” Chanderdat said. “He not only has a ton of coaching experience but is well respected in the local hockey community.”

            “I am looking forward to the next chapter and an exciting environment in Komoka,” Horvat said. “Roop has made some incredible strides with this team in their inaugural season and I look forward to working with him to further grow this program in the community.”

            Horvat will come in with a clean slate behind the bench as the entire 2017/2018 coaching staff has moved on to roles outside of the league.

            “I would like to thank the entire bench staff, Head Coach Brian Dobbin and Assistant Coaches Jason Williams, Jason Stacey, and Jake Jefferies for all of their efforts over this inaugural season and wish the entire staff the best of luck in their new roles.” Chanderdat said.
