All eyes were on the trio of Dakota Miskolzci and brothers Nathan and Lucas Smilsky Friday night, who combined for 11 points in the St. Catharines Falcons second straight home win.

St. Catharines beat the Welland Canadians 12-2 in the GOJHL matchup at the Jack Gatecliff Arena, who they also outshot 41-30.

“Those guys move the puck so well,” said Miskolzci. “I love playing with them and everything just clicked tonight.”

St. Catharines Head Coach Dan Fitzgerald did not play forwards Michael Davies, Tanner Ferreira and Jaleel Adams in the first period. Ferreira and Davies were both ejected from the Falcons’ 5-3 loss to the Pelham Panthers on October 29.

“Those guys are good teammates,” said Fitzgerald. “That’s the main purpose, we need guys who are going to pull the rope together and once we saw that they got more ice later in the night.”

Miskolzci opened the scoring for the Falcons, scoring just 13 seconds into the game. Nathan Smilsky added another tally 28 second later to give the Falcons an early two-goal lead.

“The found some chemistry early,” said Fitzgerald. “It’s just something we through together for today, but after that – it may be something we keep together.”

Lucas Smilsky, Jack Venneri and Carson Eden would also score for the Falcons in the first period. Welland forward Alexander Dameski scored the Canadians only goal of the frame.

Forward Mitch Pellarin and defenseman Tyler MacArthur added goals for the Falcons in the second period. Welland forward Matthew Giannini scored the Canadians only other goal of the game.

Miskolzci netted two more goals in the third period to complete a hat-trick performance. Ferreira, Lucas Smilsky and Zach Lawrence also added markers in the third period.

St. Catharines killed 6 of 6 Welland power-plays while capitalizing on 1 of 2 chances with the extra man.

The Falcons are back in action November 10 when they take on the Caledonia Corvairs at home.
