The St. Catharines Falcons suffered their first in-conference road loss Sunday afternoon, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Pelham Panthers.
Falcons captain Michael Davies, alternate captains Dante Copps and Tanner Ferreira as well as forward Dakota Miskolczi were all ejected from the game, which saw St. Catharines penalized for 42 minutes in total. St. Catharines outshot Pelham 29-21 in the game.
The Panthers were able to capitalize with the man advantage, scoring on three of 10 power-plays. St. Catharines scored just one power-play marker through nine opportunities.
Lucas Smilsky opened the scoring in the first period for the Falcons, netting the only tally of the frame. Smilsky again scored in the second period, as well as Falcon forward Carson Eden. Pelham’s Matt Ruigrok and Brendan Bouvier also score in the second period.
Pelham captain Thomas Young collided with Falcons goaltender Riley Eberhardt in the third period after Panther’s forward Francesco Gigliotti scored. Both Young and Eberhardt left the game with undisclosed injuries. Anthony Gigliotti and Ruigrok also scored in the final period.
The Falcons look to get back on track November third, when they take on the Welland Canadians at the Jack Gatecliff Arena in St. Catharines.
