Whitby Fury star Devin Shore (photo credits - Tim Bates/OJHL Images) continued his ascent in the NHL draft rankings by impressing many at the recent NHL Combine that took place last week in Toronto.
The OJHL rookie sensation and University of Maine commit, caught the attention of NHL scouts early in the season and took centre stage when he was named MVP of the World Junior 'A' Challenge while helping Team East capture the silver medal. Shore would then help lead the upstart Fury to a berth in the OJHL Championship Series while being named both OJHL Rookie-of-the-Year and OJHL Top Prospect.
Earning the invitation to show his stuff at the NHL Combine, Shore did not disappoint many of those in attendance, finishing Top 10 in many categoires, including:
Anaerobic Fitness - Fatigue Category (8th)
Aerobic Fitness - VO2 Max Test Duration (9th)
Musculoskeletal Lower Body - 4 Jump (Mat) Mode - Ground Time (tied 7th)
Musculoskeletal Upper Body - Push Strength (10th)
Also competing in the Combine were numerous OJHL graduates, looking to move up in the NHL Draft rankings, highlighted by:
Phil Di Giuseppe (University of Michigan Wolverines) - Villanova Knights (2009-11)
Trevor Carrick (Mississauga St. Michael's Majors) - Upper Canada Patriots/Stouffville Spirit (2009-11)
Frank Palazzese (Kitchener Rangers) - Markham Waxers (2009/10)
The 2012 NHL Draft will be held on Friday, June 22 and Saturday, June 23 at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Best of luck to Devin and all of our OJHL Alumni as they live out their dream!
