LITTLE BRUINS PREVAIL OVER BOSTON JR. BRUINS

South Boston, MA- Ryan Doo and Frankie Ireland scored each scored a pair of goals to lead the Little Bruins over the Boston Junior Bruins 6-2 in Mass Select League 16U action on Sunday afternoon.

 

Ireland led off the scoring for the Little Bruins with a power play goal when he took a pass from Cameron Lowe in the slot and fired it home barely four minutes into the game. Colin Graf also received an assist on the play.

 

A Junior Bruins power play less than two minutes later tied the game. Nolan McDonough and Jack Bavis set up Matthew Keohane off a faceoff, and Keohane’s shot sailed into the back of the net.

 

Early in the second period, Max Bogdanovich and Brad Farrell sent Jack Sloan down the left wing. Sloan cut to the center and scored on the play to put the Little Bruins in front 2-1.

 

Ryan Doo got his first of the game when he buried Lowe’s rebound while the Little Bruins were on a power play with 12:18 remaining in the second period. Ireland was credited with the second assist.

 

Five minutes later, Doo bagged his second of the game when Graf and Lowe set him up in the slot and he found the back of the net to give the Little Bruins a three-goal lead.

 

Mark Blaney grabbed some momentum back for the Junior Bruins when he scored from Hugh Curran with 3:51 on the clock.

 

Just over a minute later, Graf sent a cross-ice pass to Ireland in the right circle and Ireland lit the lamp for the second time that game to restore the three-goal lead.

 

Jacob Banks rounded out the scoring late in the game with a power play goal assisted by Bogdanovich.
