Date: Oct 9, 2025
Winning is contagious right now for the UM-Flint Men's Hockey team. The Wolverines improved from an 0-2 start on the year and have since gone on to win all six of their most recent games. The six game win streak is the longest win streak the program has had in the past 3 seasons. Each weekend has been a mixture of Home and Away games but no matter the rink the team comes ready to battle every night.
UM-Flint is firing on all cylinders right now with timely offensive scoring, shutdown defense and big time goaltending. On the back end, UM-Flint defensemen and goaltenders have rallied to only allow eight goals against in the previous six games, a team average of 1.33 goals against per game. The team's forwards and powerplay units have tallied 28 goals in those six games averaging 4.66 goals for per game.
Head Coach Mike Schunot shared, "Our team chemistry is at a high right now and our recent wins are proof of that. We know if we play our game we can beat any opponent on any given night."
The team's most recent victories came against MCHC rival Lawrence Tech University Blue Devils. Both games were hard fought battles. Game 1 of the weekend took place in Southfield, MI as UM-Flint defeated LTU by a score of 2-0. Saturday night's home game ended in overtime with a clutch goal from Nicholas Kozoro who had assists from Conor Houle and Dan Olson. This gave the team it's sixth straight win and the third consecutive weekend sweep.
The team looks to improve to 8-2 this coming weekend with two games against U of M Ann Arbor - MCHC. Friday night's game (October 27th) will take place at Crystal Fieldhouse in Burton, MI with an 8:00pm puckdrop. Saturday's game (October 28th) will be at the Arctic Edge in Canton, MI.
We hope to see you at our next home game. Go Blue!
