Chelmsford, MA – Pittsfield Suns General Manager, Kristen Huss, has been named the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s 2017 Executive of the Year. The announcement was made by Futures League commissioner, Chris Hall, as part of the league's annual post-season awards.
In connection with announcing Huss as Executive of the Year, Commissioner Hall said, “Kristen’s a tremendous asset to the Pittsfield community and the Futures League. "Hall continued, "Her enthusiastic personality is infectious with the players, her staff and the Pittsfield Suns fans as well as with her peers within the league. There’s no such thing as a bad day when you have the opportunity to talk with or see Kristen"
Pittsfield Suns owner, Jeff Goldklang, raved about Huss. “Kristen is well-deserving of this prestigious honor. She has led the charge in the Suns’ offering one of the premiere summer experiences in the Berkshires, and her oversight has contributed to the renaissance at Wahconah Park. In a League filled with many deserving candidates, Kristen has consistently stood near the top.”
Under Huss’s leadership, during the Pittsfield Suns sixth season, the ball club increased sponsorship with a strong focus on the fan experience. Additionally, the Suns added several events at Historic Wahconah park including professional wrestling and a food truck festival.
Huss is a 2006 graduate of the University of Fairfield University with a degree in marketing. She begin her career selling programs with the Hudson Valley Renegades, parent club to the Suns, in 2001. She was hired full-time in September 2006 and eventually named Assistant General Manager prior to being named the General Manager of the Suns in the fall of 2015. Huss was recently inducted in to the New England Baseball Hall of Fame in a ceremony in Pittsfield, MA on September 9th.
