Two games were on tap for the Warriors this past weekend, both on the road against Susquehanna and Kutztown. The weekend would start off at Subury Ice Rink against the Susquehanna River Hawks. The Warriors would get off to a slow start but would get on the board first for a 1-0 lead 3 minutes into the contest. The game would stay at the same score for a long time as both teams would trade chances until Susquehanna's Noah Conway was able to finish off a 2 on 1 to knot the game up at 1 with 5 minutes left till the end of the period. But as the Warriors have shown so far in this young season, it would not take them long to answer in a big way as it would only take a minute before the Warriors' Travis Moore would get on the board and regain the lead at 2-1. And it would seem that the period would end at the same score until Henry Mead was able to beat the River Hawks goaltender with 14 seconds left to enable the Warriors to breathe a little bit with a 3-1 lead heading into the 2nd period. The 2nd period would not be as eventful as both teams would be stymied for the whole 20 minutes by the goaltenders except for an ESU goal from freshman Sean McGinley thanks to a nifty feed across the crease from Henry Mead. The Warriors had a comfortable three goal lead going into the 3rd period but they knew that it should be greater with how they were playing. And they would finally bust open the floodgates with a 5 goal outburst in the 3rd period to win this one with ease with a 9-1 final score. The win would elevate the Warriors record to 3-1 on the season.
Game Notes: Josh Seder - 22 saves on 23 shots, ESU 1 for 4 on the PP, Henry Mead and Sean McGinley both with hat tricks

Then Sunday happened. The Warriors would travel on down to Reading, Pa to take on Kutztown University at the Body Zone, a house of horrors for the Warriors over the years. A place where they are winless over the last 6 years at least, losing the last two seasons to Kutztown at this rink to the tune of 6-4 and 3-2 scores in tightly contested matchups. And this game would be no different as the fans who came out were in for a treat once we got to the 3rd period. The Kutztown Golden Bears would enter the third period with a 4-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals in each of the 1st and 2nd periods. The Warriors were determined to jump out quickly and hope to catch an offguard Kutztown team sleeping with a big lead so that they can tie the game up. And it would look as if that were going to happen as ESU would get on the board first in the 3rd period and make it a 4-1 game in the early minutes of the 3rd thanks to a goal from Steve Quimby. But, only seconds later, Kutztown would hope to dash all hopes by answering right away and making it a 4 goal lead once again at 5-1. The Golden Bears would add another insurance goal (which would prove to be huge later on) to extend their lead to 6-1, making it seem like there was not enough time to come back for the Warriors. Then the insanity would take over. With 7 minutes left in the game, the Warriors would score what would seem like an innocent goal to make it a 6-2 game, no need for any Kutztown fans in the building to start to worry, just continue to check their fantasy stats and the football scores until the time finally ran out and they can all celebrate a victory with the players afterwards. But then with just under 4 minutes left to play, the Warriors would score again, making it a 6-3 game now. Then less than a minute later, the Warriors would bury another one in the back of the net, making it a 6-4 game now with about 3 minutes left in the game. All of a sudden the ice seems to be tilted one way and the Golden Bears can't seem to do anything right and their fans are looking up from their phones wondering what was happening. Then again, just over a minute later, the Warriors would capitalize again, closing the lead down to 6-5 with just over two minutes left to play. Then, with about a minute and a half left in the game, the Warriors would complete the comeback and tie the game up at 6-6 and we all of a sudden have a whole new ballgame (or puckgame). ESU would also get a powerplay at the end of the 3rd with a chance to now take the lead but they would not as the game was now heading to OT. Both teams came out with a fresh start and fresh legs, looking to capitalize on any mistake and end this game before they had to go to a shootout. And both teams would get their opportunities, but it would be Kutztown getting the game winner with just over 1 minute left in OT off of a deflection in front off of a players shoulder, the puck just gliding in the net over goalie Josh Seder. The OTL would push the Warriors record to 3-1-1 on the season.
Game Notes: Josh Seder - 41 saves on 48 shots

The Warriors are back on the ice on Saturday as they make a trip down to Chocolate World to take on Shippensburg University as they look to even up their league record of 1-1. This will be the first of three straight league games for ESU as they look to position themselves nicely in the playoff picture. Puck drop is set for 3:30pm at Hershey Park Arena.
