TEAM NATIONAL TAKES 15U ALL-STAR GAME

Allston, MA- Tom Rooney scored two goals and added an assist to lead Team National to a 7-1 win over Team American in the Massachusetts Select League 15U All-Star Game.

 

The game started off as a goaltending duel, as Jack Byrne and Nate Brennan kept the teams off the board throughout the first period.

 

Rooney broke the tie 5:30 into the second frame when he took a pass from Bobby Luca, skated into the zone, and shot it past goaltender Jacob Sanville. Liam Fisher also assisted on the play.

 

Fisher made it 2-0 with 7:55 to go in the period when he brought the puck out from behind the net and pushed it over the goal line.

 

Team National took a 3-0 lead when Zach Callahan skated down the left wing and sent a cross-ice pass to Rooney, who cut toward the center and fired it home with 6:33 on the clock.

 

Callahan led off the scoring in the final period when he jammed the puck in with help from Rooney and Luca in the opening minute.

 

Three minutes into the frame, Everett Misto hit Sam Vozzella with a pass and Vozzella flew down the right wing and ripped a shot past Dalton Neelon.

 

A minute later, Matt Pendenza took a pass from Joe Thibodeau and took a shot that escaped Steven Pisani and slid in to put Team American on the board.
 

Team National responded with 10:29 to go when Luca scored from Misto at the front of the net.

 

Patrick Somerville rounded out the scoring with 22 seconds remaining when he scored from Grant Gardula.
