Greg Reid, founder and owner of Societe Indoor Cycling, has competed at an extremely high level of sport, playing D1 NCAA football at Marist College.  Prior to that, he was consumed year round with basketball, baseball, racquetball, wrestling, and track and field.  Post collegiately Greg became a self-proclaimed avid runner, competing in dozens of full and half marathons.  Still it was some years later that Reid picked up on indoor cycling.  “To be honest, I never really considered cycling as my ‘go to’ form of fitness and conditioning until I met my wife, Sara, in New York City” admitted Greg.  On a weekly basis, the pair would travel across the 5 boroughs, following their favorite instructors while enjoying both the excitement of the various classes and the satisfaction of a great workout. Indoor cycling quickly became Greg’s favorite form of fitness as he found it to be fun, forever changing, extremely challenging and it was never, ever the same workout.

In October 2016, Sara and Greg decided to relocate back to Michigan, where Sara is originally from, to start their family.   It has been Greg’s vision to introduce and redefine how Ann Arbor and the local communities think and feel about Indoor cycling. “I want to share the same joys, challenges, successes and experiences I had with everyone who joins me at Societe Indoor Cycling”, added Reid. 

Probably the biggest question at hand is how will Societe indoor cycling take Eagles Hockey to the next Level?  “At Societe Indoor Cycling we offer the most advanced technology in all of Southern Michigan.  This will allow us to train and develop each member of the EMU hockey team. Our heart rate monitoring, individual/team analytics, and top of the line equipment will enable the entire team to push themselves to their cardiovascular limits. In return, this will better everyone on the ice, pushing each and every one who attends our customized endurance trainings to the next level,” Reid assuredly replied.  So far the players have been seeing returns on their investment at Societe.  “My expectation for the EMU Hockey team is that each member to come in every week with the focus, drive and enthusiasm to make themselves a better athlete.  I expect that they will allow me to push them to their personal limits and beyond. My goal is for everyone to walk away a better athlete then when they first walked in the door. As of today, EVERYONE is meeting my expectations”

Reid’s vison for Societe embraces the total team concept that is synonymous with Eagles Hockey.  “The name Societe (so-ci-été) came to me after reading the definitions ‘an organization or club formed for a particular purpose or activity’, and ‘the situation of being in the company of other people’. I feel like the definitions are a perfect representation of my vision for the company and what I want the experience to be all about- Bringing Fitness and our Community, Together!” explains Greg.
