Mount Brydges, Ontario – The first of three seasons wrapped up on Sunday, September 10 as the Bulldogs of the Provincial Junior Hockey League Yeck Division iced their final game against the travelling Thamesford Trojans in thrilling fashion via a 7-5 final.
It was the Bulldogs who would get this scoring frenzy started by a goal from Daniel Stretton at 8:05 of the first period. The Stretton tally was quickly equalized by Colby Doxtator on the power play at 10:49 to send the game into the second period tied at 1:1.
The Bulldogs and Trojans would trade goals back and forth as Stretton added his second of the tilt, followed by Thamesford’s Cody Tremblay just nineteen seconds later. Channin George would tickle the twine at 2:07 via assists from Mt. Brydges Cougars products Nathan Pawlowski and Shayne Wuytenburg. Thamesford would charge back with three goals of their own from Cody Clerc (2:59), Chris Dimmers (6:59), and Colby Doxtator (8:38) to jump ahead 5:3. George would add a late marker at 16:57 to bring the Dogs within one goal of Trojans. The stage was set for either a comeback by the Bulldogs or a Trojans burst in the third.
The third period offered three goals by the Bulldogs. Patrick Green notched a power play tally from Tanner Lafrance and Channin George at 13:27. Justin Cheng would propel the Bulldogs lead to 6:5 at 14:12. Kirkland Lake, Ontario product and Bulldogs veteran Tanner Lafrance would officially ice the game for the Dogs at 19:16 with an empty net goal to lift the Bulldogs to a 7:5 victory at the Tri Township Arena.
The Dogs have completed their pre-season tests and the team finished with a 4-0-1 record. Their only loss came from a shootout with the Petrolia Flyers this past Friday.

The regular season gets underway on Friday, September 15 when the Dogs travel to Dorchester for a date with the Dolphins. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:30PM at the Dorchester CC.
The Bulldogs home opener is on Sunday, September 17 at 3:30PM versus the Thamesford Trojans. If the pre-season has been any indication of what is to come between the Dogs and Trojans, you can be sure there will be no shortage of good hockey on that Sunday afternoon.
