Bravehearts Welcome Alex Dion to 2018 Coaching Staff
Date: Feb 1, 2018
The Futures League and Commissioner Chris Hall would like to congratulate the Nashua Silver Knights on claiming back to back league titles. In a rematch of last year’s Championship Series, the Knights completed a two game sweep over perennial contender Worcester Braveheart’s last night in an exciting 2-0 shutout at Holman Stadium in Nashua.
In an outstanding pitching effort by both teams Nashua was able to take the lead on a Tom Blandini (SNHU) RBI single in the second inning and they would never look back. Kyle Bonicki (Clark) was able to add some insurance in the fifth on an RBI single that plated Ted Williams (Millersville). Those two runs were all that the Nashua pitching staff needed as a combination of four Knights pitchers allowed for 6 hits and no runs over 9 innings. Starter Anthony Lupi (Merrimack) got the win for Nashua letting up 6 hits over 5 complete innings. Kyle Murphy (Northeastern) came on in the ninth to get the save, on his way to securing the 2017 FCBL Playoff MVP award. Murphy was lights out coming out of the bullpen during the Knights playoff run as he totaled 4 saves in 4 innings of work.
The celebration went long into the night for the players, families, and front office staff of the Knights after capturing their 4th league title in the 7-year history of the Futures League. Nashua defeated Pittsfield in a play in game last week and then went on to complete sweeps over Bristol and Worcester on their way to capturing back to back titles. Both teams and fan bases should be proud of how they represented themselves during this great series and we look forward to more great Futures League action in 2018. Thank you again to all the owners, front office staff, players, and fans that helped to make this FCBL season one to remember.
