Wachusett explodes for 16 runs and ends 5 game skid at home

LEOMINSTER, Mass. –  The Dirt Dawgs end a five game drought at home after putting up 15 runs, including three RBIs performances by Wood, Tower, and Cala as Wachusett defeats the Bristol Blues 16-2.

How it Happened

The Dirt Dawgs got the scoring in the bottom of the second, as Kyle Cala (Wagner) hit a two run shot over the left field fence. Bristol cut into the lead as Max Goione (Siena) launched a solo shot in the top of the third. In the bottom half, Ryan Lever (UMass Amherst) came around to score on a Bradley Wood (Northern Ill) double to right center field.

In the top of the fourth, the Blues tacked on one run as Mitch Guilmette (CCSU) scored on a sacrifice fly to draw within one. The Dawgs added four runs in the bottom of the fifth, capped off by a two run long ball from Bradley Wood (Northern Ill).

Wachusett exploded for six runs in the sixth inning finished off by a homerun by Zack Tower (Franklin Pierce) hit his 17th homerun of the season to dead centerfield. Three more runs came across in the eighth as Cala picked up a RBI double to the right center gap.

  • The win ties the team record for wins in a season with 26.
